Advocating for Victims of Crime
LKLP Community Action plays an important role in protecting the rights of those who have been impacted by crime. Through our Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA) Program, we support and advocate for those dealing with the emotional and psychological consequences resulting from criminal acts.
A crime victim is any person who suffers direct or threatened physical, financial or emotional harm as a result of specific crime, which includes everything from domestic violence, elder abuse and sexual assault to human trafficking, harassment and more. Below are some of the free and confidential services VOCA can provide to those in need.

VOCA supports and advocates for victims of all crimes, including, but not limited to: domestic and interpersonal violence, stalking, terroristic threatening, harassment, intimidation, criminal homicide, rape, sexual abuse, human trafficking and more.
Why do I need VOCA services?
Being a victim of crime can be traumatic and can lead to uncertainty in knowing how to take action against it. VOCA helps crime victims navigate the criminal justice system from beginning to end. Our advocates provide ongoing free and confidential support throughout the process, including attending any necessary forensic, prosecution or law enforcement interviews, accompanying you to emergency medical exams, and being by your side during court hearings. We also provide a variety of additional resources and referrals to make sure you have comprehensive and ongoing support.
Are VOCA services confidential?
Yes, all services are confidential to the extent the law allows.
What communities do you serve?
VOCA serves the Kentucky River Area Development District, which includes Leslie, Knott, Letcher, Perry, Breathitt, Owsley, Lee and Wolfe counties.
