About Perry County Outreach
The Perry County Outreach Office located in the Old Dilce Combs High School, 14 Logan Drive, Jeff, KY is part of the LKLP Community Action Council, Inc., Community Service Block Grant Program.
The Perry County Outreach Office assists clients with the following services: Emergency Services, Self-Sufficiency, Employment, Education, Nutrition, Health, Housing, Linkages and Income Management.
Program Highlights
The Perry County CSBG staff has been organizing the summer food service program for Perry County and preparing for our summer activities. We have two different activities planned for this summer, one of our youth activities will be a day at the Lilly Cornett Woods and Carrs Fork Lake on June 20th. The other will be at the Wendell H. Ford Airport in Hazard on July 24-25. Both of these events will be enjoyable as well as rewarding and educational. At this time we have a total of fifteen sites for summer feeding. The Perry County Board of Education will be doing the resource centers and camps.
We have joined with partnering agencies for several activities which include: The Department for Protection and Permanency for child abuse Prevention. The Hazard Perry County Senior Center and others for the Intergenerational Prom which was held at the Hazard Community College, the KRADD office and others for the 50+ Senior Games which included Golf, Horseshoes, Bowling Golden Arts, Corn Toss, Rook, and others.
We have received several referrals from partnering agencies for wheelchair ramp for clients. The case managers made home visits to determine the need, at this time we have request in for materials for three wheel chair ramps.
We have a lot of request for home repair and Friday I received a call from Kevin Rogers with the Big Creek Mission regarding the possibilities of working together to provide volunteer labor for many projects in our area he stated that they would do community clean up, yard cleanup for elderly, house cleaning for elderly and home repair assistance. The CSBG case managers will be contacting their clients to find the need.
During the months of April and May we have continued with our regular activities that include Kentucky Vision applications, weatherization application, home visits .We are still doing the Stimulus Tax returns, at this time we have done over 500 Economic Stimulus tax returns for our clients. Two predatory lending classes along with budget and credit counseling were held.
